Effective date: 1 August 2026
Last updated: 1 August 2026

Gladstone Cinemas is operated by The Trustee for The Cam Family Trust ABN 42 217 817 664 (we, us or our).

These Conditions of Entry apply to every person entering or remaining in Gladstone Cinemas, including the foyer, auditoriums, Gold Room, food and beverage areas, arcade areas and other parts of the cinema premises.

They are intended to protect the safety, comfort and lawful enjoyment of patrons and employees. Nothing in these conditions excludes or restricts rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, including rights under Australian Consumer Law and applicable discrimination law.

1. Acceptance of these conditions

Entry to and continued presence at Gladstone Cinemas are conditional on compliance with these Conditions of Entry and reasonable, lawful directions given by cinema management or staff.

By purchasing or using a ticket, entering the premises or remaining after being made aware of these conditions, a patron agrees to comply with them.

The person responsible for a child or dependent patron must make reasonable efforts to ensure that person also complies.

If a patron does not agree to these conditions, they must not enter or must leave when reasonably directed.

2. Tickets and authorised areas

A valid ticket or other accepted admission authority is required to enter an auditorium. Tickets must be produced when requested and are valid only for the cinema, movie or event, date, session, ticket type and seat shown.

Patrons must not:

Patrons may be asked to wait in the foyer until an auditorium is ready for seating.

3. Ticket eligibility and identification

Valid evidence may be required for child, student, senior, concession, emergency-services, membership, promotional or other restricted ticket types.

Proof of age or identity may also be required for:

If satisfactory evidence is not produced, entry may be refused or the patron may be required to pay the difference to the correct ticket price.

4. Film classifications

All patrons must comply with Australian film-classification requirements.

Children under 15 may only attend an MA15+ film when accompanied by a parent or adult guardian as required by law. R18+ films are restricted to persons aged 18 years and over. Proof of age may be requested even if a ticket has already been purchased.

It is the purchaser’s responsibility to check the classification before purchasing. Staff cannot disregard legal classification requirements.

5. Children and supervision

Children must be appropriately supervised by a responsible parent, guardian or carer.

The supervising adult is responsible for the child’s behaviour, safety and compliance with these conditions. Children must not be left unattended where doing so creates a safety risk, causes disruption or is inappropriate for their age or circumstances.

Children must not run on stairs, climb furniture or railings, enter staff areas or interfere with cinema equipment.

Advertised minimum ages for Gold Room and other sessions apply in addition to film classifications.

6. Respectful behaviour

Patrons must behave safely and respectfully towards employees, contractors and other patrons.

The following conduct is not permitted:

Reasonable complaints and respectful disagreement are permitted. These conditions are not intended to prevent a customer from raising a concern or exercising a legal right.

7. Auditorium conduct

During a movie or event, patrons must:

Repeated talking, phone use, movement, noise or other disruption may result in a warning or removal.

8. Recording and piracy

Photography, filming, audio recording, screen recording, livestreaming or any other reproduction of a movie, advertisement, trailer, event or cinema screen is prohibited unless expressly authorised.

Recording equipment may be reported to police or relevant rights holders. Nothing in this section authorises staff to access the contents of a patron’s device without lawful authority or consent.

Photography in the foyer or at an approved event must not invade another person’s privacy, obstruct operations or record staff or patrons after they have reasonably objected.

9. Food and beverages

Food and beverages purchased outside Gladstone Cinemas must not be consumed on the premises.

Reasonable exceptions will be made for genuine medical, allergy, infant-feeding, disability or accessibility requirements. Patrons may discreetly explain the requirement to a manager; unnecessary medical details are not required.

Patrons must not bring in or consume:

Food and drink must be handled responsibly. Spills should be reported promptly.

10. Licensed venue and alcohol

Gladstone Cinemas is a licensed venue. Alcohol may only be purchased, supplied and consumed in accordance with Queensland liquor laws, licence conditions and venue rules.

We may request acceptable proof of age and refuse service or entry where required by law. Alcohol will not be sold or supplied to a minor or an unduly intoxicated or disorderly person.

Alcohol purchased at the cinema must remain within authorised licensed areas and must not be supplied to another person contrary to law. Outside alcohol is prohibited.

An intoxicated, disorderly or unsafe patron may be refused entry, refused further service or directed to leave.

11. Smoking and vaping

Smoking, vaping and the use of e-cigarettes are prohibited inside the cinema and in any other area where prohibited by law or centre rules.

Patrons must comply with signage and staff directions concerning designated smoking areas and required distances from entrances.

12. Dress and footwear

Footwear must be worn at all times unless an exception is reasonably required because of disability, injury, culture or another protected or legitimate need and can be accommodated safely.

Management may refuse entry where clothing, footwear, costume accessories, masks or presentation create a genuine safety, security or serious disruption concern.

Clothing or visible material displaying threatening, seriously offensive or discriminatory content may be required to be covered or removed as a condition of entry where reasonably necessary to protect staff and patrons.

Costumes must not obstruct aisles, seats, other patrons’ vision or security identification requirements.

13. Bags and inspections

For safety, security, liquor-licensing and loss-prevention purposes, staff may ask a patron to voluntarily open a bag or show its contents as a condition of entry or continued presence.

Staff will not physically search a patron or forcibly take their property. If a patron does not consent to a reasonable bag inspection, entry may be refused or the patron may be directed to remove the bag from the premises, subject to applicable law.

Bag inspections must be conducted respectfully and only to the extent reasonably necessary. Accessibility, medical and infant-care items will be accommodated.

14. Prohibited and unsafe items

The following must not be brought onto the premises without express authority:

Lawful mobility aids, medical devices and assistance-animal equipment are not prohibited.

Management may contact police or emergency services where a prohibited item or conduct presents a suspected legal or safety risk.

15. Accessibility and assistance animals

We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate patrons with disability and accessibility requirements.

Lawful assistance animals are permitted. Pets and other animals are not permitted unless expressly approved for an event or required by law.

Wheelchair spaces, companion seating and other accessible facilities must remain available for their intended use. Patrons should contact us before booking where practical if they require assistance, but failure to contact us in advance does not remove rights under applicable law.

16. Cinema property and cleanliness

Patrons must not damage, deface, misuse, remove or interfere with cinema property, seats, fixtures, safety equipment, screens, projection or sound equipment.

Patrons may be responsible for the reasonable cost of repairing deliberate or negligent damage or addressing excessive cleaning caused by their conduct. Children’s conduct remains subject to applicable law concerning responsibility and recovery of costs.

Normal accidental spills should be reported promptly so they can be made safe.

17. Personal belongings and lost property

Patrons are responsible for their personal belongings. To the extent permitted by law, Gladstone Cinemas is not responsible for loss, theft or damage that it did not cause.

Found property may be recorded and held for a reasonable period before being securely disposed of, donated or provided to police, depending on the item’s nature and value.

Identity or satisfactory proof of ownership may be required before property is released.

18. CCTV, safety and privacy

CCTV may operate in public and operational areas for safety, security, incident management and loss prevention. CCTV is not used in toilets or other areas where privacy would reasonably be expected.

CCTV and incident information is handled in accordance with the Gladstone Cinemas Privacy Policy and may be disclosed to police, insurers, legal advisers or other parties where authorised or required by law.

19. Emergencies and evacuations

Patrons must follow alarms, evacuation instructions and reasonable directions from staff, centre management, security or emergency services.

Emergency exits, fire doors, extinguishers and other safety equipment must not be obstructed, misused or interfered with.

Re-entry after an evacuation is permitted only when authorised. Tickets and property should not be retrieved if doing so would create a safety risk.

20. Commercial and unauthorised activities

Without prior written approval, patrons must not conduct commercial photography, promotions, fundraising, surveys, petitioning, soliciting, ticket resale or distribution of advertising material on the premises.

Patrons must not represent that they act for or are endorsed by Gladstone Cinemas without authority.

21. Refusal of entry and removal

Management may lawfully refuse entry, stop service or direct a patron to leave where the patron:

Any decision will be made reasonably and must not unlawfully discriminate.

Where appropriate, staff may issue a warning and allow the patron an opportunity to correct the behaviour. Serious conduct may result in immediate removal, security attendance, police involvement or a ban from future entry.

Reasonable force may only be used by a person legally authorised to use it and only to the extent permitted by law.

22. Refunds following refusal or removal

A patron refused entry or removed because they breached these conditions, failed to satisfy a clearly disclosed legal requirement or engaged in unsafe or disruptive conduct will not normally receive a refund.

This does not exclude a refund or other remedy required by Australian Consumer Law or another applicable law. Ticket-purchase refunds and voluntary booking changes are otherwise governed by the Gladstone Cinemas Ticket Purchasing Terms and Conditions.

23. Exclusion or banning notices

For serious or repeated misconduct, management may issue a proportionate temporary or ongoing exclusion notice, subject to applicable law.

The notice may identify the venue, reason, duration and review contact. A person subject to an exclusion notice must not enter during the stated period without written approval.

24. Changes to these conditions

We may update these conditions to reflect operational or legal requirements. The current version will be published on our website and made available at the cinema on request.

Conditions applying to a ticket purchase are those available when the purchase is completed, together with any later change required by law or reasonably necessary to address an immediate safety or security risk.
